Jones began her track career in 2005 when she finished her university studies. Jones won at least races, including the Torino Memorial and the Heusden Track Championships 2005.

Brandt is a child of the Cape Town region. She grew up within Cape Town South Africa with her siblings and parents and immigrated to Auckland New Zealand when she was in her teens.
